Dubai will be fully digital by the end of 2021

The non-contact services sector is constantly growing around the world. International and emerging companies operating in Dubai Internet City play a vital role in enhancing Dubai's position as an incubator and exporter of innovative technologies, which have gained great importance in light of consumers' adoption of modern payment technologies and the increasing distance from paper and metal money.

The world is witnessing a significant increase in the demand for contactless services thanks to the better use experience and innovative ways of interaction between users and devices. In this context, Dubai Internet City is becoming increasingly important as a global center for innovation, especially in the areas of financial technologies and digital payment solutions, as its partners use innovation centers to support and develop these sectors.

Dubai has strengthened its position as a global center for the digital economy in line with the vision of our wise leadership. Over the past years, leading international companies such as "Visa" from Dubai Internet City worked on developing solutions and innovations. This has contributed to the diversification of Dubai's economy and contributed to the regional digital transformation, and more sectors benefited from the enormous potential of these technologies.

Dubai Internet City hosts a number of innovation centers, most notably the center affiliated with Visa, the global leader in the field of digital payments. The center promotes the development and adoption of contactless technologies in nearly 90 countries in the Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, starting from Dubai.

Contactless payment services were very popular in the UAE even before the Corona pandemic, but during the period of its spread, these services spread widely among consumers, based on their desire to make payments in secure ways.

The value of the non-contact services economy around the world is expected to double to 1.1 trillion dirhams by 2024. The outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic has accelerated the pace of development of the sector. The rise in the use of digital and paperless transactions will contribute to enhancing Dubai's paperless strategy launched by "Smart Dubai" with the aim of the emirate becoming fully digital by the end of 2021.
