Josep Borrell: Expo 2020 is an ideal opportunity for international understanding and cooperation

                                                          

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stressed that Expo 2020 Dubai is an ideal opportunity to reaffirm the European Union's commitment to international cooperation and multilateralism in response to global challenges and to build a common understanding on how to deal with these challenges.

"In times of tough challenges, our communities need to work together, not only to overcome them but also to become stronger together and better collaborate," Borrell added.

Josep Borrell stated: "The UAE is an important partner in the Gulf region, and we have a common interest in maintaining the security and stability of this region and our common neighborhood. Therefore, the European Union would like to continue our regular political dialogue on the challenges we face in the region, in addition to continuing our regular dialogue on human rights."

Borrell added: "The election of the United Arab Emirates as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the next two years will provide broader opportunities to strengthen our joint efforts in dealing with regional challenges."
