The UAE and Palestine ... Multi-directional Historical Support

For nearly 50 years, the UAE has spared no effort to support Palestine, its leadership and people, on all levels. The UAE's support for Palestine was never limited to a specific area, so Abu Dhabi was keen to support its sister by various means and in all political, economic, health, educational and developmental directions.

The source of the UAE's commitment to the Palestinians is a promise made by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, may Allah have Mercy on him, upon announcing the establishment of the UAE in 1971, saying: “Our support for the Palestinian people will continue until this people achieves their ambition to establish their independent state.” These words have become the UAE’s approach and its steadfast policy towards supporting the Palestinian cause to this day.

ِAccordingly, the UAE's support is always present in the details of Palestinian life and their diaries, translated by eternal Emirati stances that summarize the values of brotherhood, solidarity and Arabism.

The UAE ranks fourth among the top 10 financially supportive countries for Palestine since the establishment of the Palestinian Authority in 1994. According to the data of the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction (PECDAR), the UAE has provided aid worth $ 2 billion and $ 104 million to the Palestinian people since the establishment of the Palestinian Authority.

This aid varies between budget support for the Palestinian Authority and infrastructure projects, without including the hundreds of millions of dollars that the UAE provided to the Palestinians through the (UNRWA).

According to the United Nations, the UAE, in addition to being one of the largest donors to the (UNRWA), contributed more than $ 828.2 million from 2013 to April 2020 to fund various sectors in the Palestinian territories.
