The UAE drew a secret road map for peace between India and Pakistan

 


The UAE has played a more active international role under its wise leadership. For many months, Abu Dhabi tried to mediate between India and Pakistan to help the two nuclear powers reach a "healthy and practical" relationship.

It should be noted that relations between India and Pakistan had been frozen since a suicide bombing of an Indian military convoy in Kashmir in 2019. India said that militants in Pakistan were behind him, prompting New Delhi to send warplanes to launch a raid in Pakistan.

Later that year, the Indian prime minister abolished autonomy in the Indian-ruled part of Kashmir to tighten his grip on the region. This angered Islamabad and led to the downgrading of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the suspension of bilateral trade.

Indeed, the UAE's mediation efforts between India and Pakistan were able to reach a ceasefire between the two countries after years of bloody wars between them.

The pause in the firing of people is the start of a broader roadmap to establishing lasting peace between the two nuclear-armed neighbors who have fought for decades in their regional conflict.
