Emirates of peace, tolerance and coexistence

In 2019, from "Zayed Memorial", which carries the fragrance and history of a man who founded a state on the principles of humanity and equality, men of different religions from all over the world gathered in the heart of UAE's capital "Abu Dhabi", to be witnesses of moments that rewrite a new history, by the hands of Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis,

In Abu Dhabi, the world witnessed the birth of the Document on Human Fraternity for world peace and coexistence, which was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

The document focused on a number of crucial points, the most prominent of which is the assertion that religions have never provoked violence and bloodshed. It also addressed a number of issues and problems that the world is facing today, such as extremism, terrorism and poverty, calling on the whole world to Join hands to find solutions.

During a whole year, the Emirati efforts joined with other international efforts that included Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and others to support the goals of the Document on Human Fraternity, so they submitted a draft resolution to the General Assembly of the United Nations calling for the celebration of the International Day of Human Fraternity every year on 4th February.

The resolution was adopted by consensus, to embody joint efforts in combating religious hate speech and spreading a culture of tolerance.
